[08-04-2022] Imperial County, CA- 7 People Injured after Multiple Vehicle Collision on Interstate 8

According to the California Highway Patrol, seven people were injured after a semi-truck, and two vehicles crashed on Interstate 8 near Winterhaven on Thursday morning, August 04, 2022.

According to authorities, the semi-truck driver was traveling eastbound on Interstate 8 when he hit one of the vehicles from behind, sending the other vehicle forward and striking the third vehicle.

According to the CHP, one vehicle was said to have four passengers. There were three people in the other vehicle. The driver was the only one in the semi-truck.

Seven people were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with injuries ranging from minor to severe. CHP said it was unclear whether they would have to be transported to other hospitals outside the area.

The semi-truck driver refused medical assistance.

According to the CHP, the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
