The following steps should be taken if you or someone you know is involved in a train accident:
- Call 911 as soon as possible to report the crash. Ensure the police or insurance company has all the necessary information, and don’t make any assumptions.
- Avoid admitting fault, even to the authorities. Describe the crash in as much detail as you can.
- Medical attention should be sought immediately to reduce the severity of the injury. It is possible to detect internal injuries that have not yet manifested symptoms through scans and tests.
- The other party’s insurance company may contact you as early as the day of the accident. When speaking with them, only divulge essential information. Do not record comments or accept insurance settlement offers before discussing them with a lawyer.
