The 24-year-old man, identified as Joey Dee H., died after a fatal big rig accident on Interstate 15 Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on the freeway north of Baker.
Hagedorn’s vehicle was a Mercedes Benz sedan. He was approaching a Freightliner semi-truck in the third lane heading north.
To avoid colliding with the back of the trailer, the Freightliner ahead was moving more slowly, so the Mercedes-Benz decided to turn right and keep going at an unsafe speed.
However, the car did strike the trailer and then veered off the road into the desert before returning to the freeway.
According to officials, the car hit the trailer, became stuck underneath it, and was dragged a short distance before the truck driver pulled off.
