Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
One of California’s most dangerous types of car collisions is a single-vehicle collision.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 62% of fatal car accidents in California involve only one vehicle. There are several factors contributing to California’s high rate of single-vehicle accidents.
A variety of factors cause one-vehicle collisions. When a driver speeds or makes sudden turns on a slick, wet road, they lose control of their car, leading to a run-off-the-road accident. It is common to see road debris, such as a large branch or something falling off a truck.
Suppose that a single-car collision is caused by an event that is neither your fault nor the fault of another driver, such as a deer darting in front of your car. As a result, you may be limited in what you can recover under your comprehensive coverage plan.
Sacramento County Car Accident Lawyers
Many car accident victims suffer injuries that prevent them from returning to work or school. Even if the victim is no longer alive, the negligent driver is still responsible for their actions. The driver who was negligently responsible for the victim’s death may be sued for wrongful death by the victim’s surviving family members (or legal heirs).
It hurts them to go through their sorrow and losses again. Victims are compelled to testify about their losses in front of strangers during trials and depositions. It might take months or even years to resolve a case, which could be detrimental to someone’s mental health.
It is crucial to hold a driver accountable if they cause an accident. When carelessness results in an excessive death toll, accountability is crucial. However emotionally draining they may be, wrongful death lawsuits can also offer closure to grieving families. This will benefit every driver in California.
