[08-07-2022] San Bernardino County, CA - 58-year-old Fatally Killed After Pedestrian Accident Involving Street Racing in BarstowThe identified victim, 58-year-old Bedford M., was killed after being hit by a car engaged in street racing in Barstow on August 7, 2022, on a Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 10:06 a.m. in the 1200 block of West Main Street.

The pedestrian was found dead on the road upon the arrival of the local authorities.

The Honda Accord and a gray Dodge Challenger struck each other at high speeds, striking the victim crossing the street. The Honda Accord rear-ended a blue Ford Escape after hitting Mooring.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Dean L., 24, remained at the scene and was treated for his injuries before bringing him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

The Dodge Challenger’s driver left the scene without exchanging any helpful information or calling the police.

Detectives interviewed additional witnesses and obtained video footage of the collision.

After obtaining the Dodge Challenger’s license plate number, Detective Andrew H. and Detective Jose S. located the Dodge Challenger and its registered owner, Manuel Z., a 22-year-old resident of Barstow, in the 24000 block of O Street.
