[08-08-2022] Los Angeles County, CA- Driver charged with murder in a Multi-Vehicle Crash That Killed 5 in LAAccording to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, the suspect in a fiery crash that killed five people and an 8 1/2-month-old fetus was charged with murder on Monday, August 08, 2022.

According to the authorities, Nicole Lorraine L. was charged with six counts of murder and five counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

She faces 90 years to life in prison if convicted of all charges.

After being released from a hospital over the weekend, Linton, a 37-year-old traveling nurse from Houston, Texas, was arrested on $9 million bail on Monday. It wasn’t clear if she had an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

Prosecutors said Linton’s Mercedes-Benz was traveling at 90 mph (144 kph) when it ran a red light and crashed into cars in unincorporated Windsor Hills, about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Several people were thrown from their vehicles, and several caught fire.

According to Sha’seana Kerr’s GoFundMe page, the crash killed Asherey R., her 11-month-old son Alonzo Q., and her boyfriend, Reynold L.

According to Lester’s family, the 24-year-old security guard was the father of Ryan’s 8 1/2-month-old unborn child. According to her family, Ryan was on her way to a doctor’s appointment for a prenatal checkup when she was killed.

The coroner’s office identified the fetus as Armani L. and listed him as having been born the same day he died; for that, Linton was charged with murder, not with vehicular manslaughter.

Two other women were also killed, but their identities remained unknown as of Monday.

Authorities said they hadn’t found evidence that Linton was under the influence of alcohol. Still, prosecutors said she had a history of dangerous crashes and was aware of the threat her driving behavior posed.

California’s roads have a lot to offer, from well-known routes like the Pacific Coast Highway and Route 66 to lesser-known ones like Tioga Pass and Highway 395.

The data was gathered from various national organizations, including the California Office of Traffic Safety. The majority of the data came from 2018 when there were 8.3 percent fewer traffic fatalities than before.
