[08-09-2022] Sacramento County, CA – High-Speed Single-Vehicle Crash Results in One Death and One Injury on Sheldon Lake Road

According to the California Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle crash killed one person and injured a passenger after crashing at the intersection at Grant Line Road Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Grant Line Road, Sheldon Lake Drive, and Sunrise Boulevard.

Officials with the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office have identified the driver as Gerard A., 21, of Cameron Park.

According to CHP investigators, Aguilar was speeding south on Sunrise Boulevard when he continued straight through the intersection with Grant Line Road.

According to investigators, the vehicle failed to stop and missed a left-hand curve onto Sheldon Lake Road.

The vehicle slammed into a drainage ditch and repeatedly turned over. The car then crashed into a parked car in a driveway, overturned once more, and the female passenger was ejected. According to CHP officials, the driver and passenger were both taken to a nearby hospital, where Aguilar later passed away.

The crash, which is still under investigation, is thought to have involved alcohol, according to investigators.
