[08-12-2023] Major Crash Leaves Motorcyclist Dead on 55 Freeway in Costa MesaA motorcycle rider was killed in a Costa Mesa 55 Freeway collision on Saturday afternoon, August 12, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 2:19 p.m., the motorcycle collided with a sedan on the northbound side of the Costa Mesa 55 Freeway under the HOV Flyover to the San Diego 405 Freeway.

A witness reported to the CHP that the rider was splitting lanes just before the collision. The rider was between two lanes and traveling in the same direction.

The authorities pronounced the motorcycle rider dead on site. No information about the rider’s identity was given nor stated.

The condition of the sedan occupants was not stated or specified, and no further details of the incident or what led to the collision were given.
