Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Although many drivers are unaware of it, single-vehicle collisions are among California’s most hazardous car collisions.

The majority of fatal automobile collisions in California—62% of all crashes—involve a single vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Due to the high number of single-vehicle accidents in California, drivers must be aware of the various contributing factors.

A variety of things can cause a single-vehicle collision. When a driver is speeding or making sudden turns on a slick, wet road, they can lose control of their car and drive into a run-off-the-road crash. There is trash on the street, such as a big branch or something that fell off a truck.

In a single-car collision that wasn’t your fault or the fault of another driver, like when a deer jumped in front of your car, your comprehensive coverage plan is likely to place a cap on your recovery.

Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers

Many people who are injured in car accidents are unable to go back to work or school as a result of their wounds. The death of a victim does not relieve a negligent driver of responsibility for their actions. The victim’s surviving family members may bring a wrongful death claim against the driver who was at fault for the victim’s passing (or legal heirs).

Reliving their losses and grief is painful for them. In depositions and trials, victims must testify about their failures in front of strangers. A case may not be resolved for months or even years, which can have a negative effect on one’s mental health.

If a driver causes an accident, it is crucial to hold them responsible. Accountability is essential when negligence causes an excessively high death toll. Wrongful death lawsuits can be emotionally taxing for grieving families but can also bring about closure. All California drivers will gain from this.
