[08-14-2025] Sonoma County, CA โ€“ Pedestrian and Dog Struck in Collision on W. Steele Lane in Santa Rosa

A woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking her dog in Santa Rosa on Thursday night, August 14, 2025.

According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the collision occurred around 7:25 p.m. near Northwest Community Park in the 2600 block of W. Steele Lane.

Police said multiple 911 callers reported that a pedestrian walking her dog had been hit while crossing W. Steele Lane toward the park. The vehicle involved, a gray Honda, remained at the scene.

Officers found the woman unconscious in the westbound lane. She was transported to a hospital, while her dog was taken by Sonoma County Animal Control to a veterinary hospital and was still alive at the time of transport.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police said it is not yet clear whether the pedestrian or driver had the right of way, but all traffic signals were functioning, and speed does not appear to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
