[08-15-2022] Alameda County, CA – One Person Killed in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Oakland

According to California Highway Patrol officials, one person was killed following a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland on Monday, August 15.

The crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. in the southbound lane close to 66th Avenue.

According to CHP Officer David Arias, a Toyota RAV4 was reported to have rear-ended a Honda Civic that was stopped near 66th Avenue.

The Honda was standing outside of his vehicle when he was struck by another moving vehicle after the collision.

One of the car’s passengers was seriously hurt, and the driver passed away at the scene.

Although a Nissan rolled over after swerving to miss a Honda, the driver was unharmed.

Arias claimed that a Toyota Camry struck the Honda and moved to the right shoulder. Also unharmed was that driver.

After that, a Toyota Corolla struck the Honda’s deceased driver. The Corolla’s driver pulled over safely and without incident.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision, and police have not made any arrests.

The Alameda County coroner’s office did not have the victim’s name yet.
