[08-16-2023] Pedestrian Killed Following Coaster Train Collision North of Sassafras StreetAn adult pedestrian was killed in a Coaster train collision in San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, August 16, 2023.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident took place north of Sassafras Street at around 3:50 p.m

It was reported that the pedestrian was struck by the commuter train, but it was not stated in the report what events led up to the collision.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Onboard the train, neither employees nor passengers were injured.

Until an investigation is complete, the victim’s identity will remain confidential.
