Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Many California drivers are unaware that single-vehicle accidents are among the most dangerous types of accidents.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics indicate that 62% of California’s fatal car accidents involve single vehicles. California has a high number of single-vehicle accidents, so drivers need to understand the causes of these accidents.
Numerous factors can contribute to a single-vehicle collision. An off-road accident occurs when a driver makes a sharp turn or speeds on a slippery road, resulting in a vehicle losing control. Roadside debris can include branches or items that have fallen from trucks.
Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers
Due to their injuries, many car accident victims cannot go back to work or school. A negligent driver is still accountable even if a victim dies. Victim’s heirs may bring a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver who brought about their death (or legal heirs).
For them, experiencing their losses and grief again is painful. In depositions and trials, victims must testify about their failures in front of strangers. A case may take months or even years to resolve, which can seriously impact one’s mental health.
Holding a negligent driver accountable if they cause an accident is essential. Accountability is crucial when negligence results in an unnecessarily high death toll. For grieving families, wrongful death claims can be emotionally taxing but can also bring about closure. This will benefit every driver in California.
