Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Many drivers are unaware that single-vehicle collisions are among California’s most dangerous auto accidents.
62% of all fatal auto accidents in California involve a single vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Drivers must be aware of the various factors due to California’s high rate of single-vehicle accidents.
Many things can cause a single-vehicle collision. A driver loses control of their car while speeding or making sudden turns on a slick, wet road, which results in a run-off-the-road crash. On the road, there may be debris like a big branch or something that fell off a truck.
Suppose a single-car collision is brought on by an event that is neither your fault nor the fault of another driver, like a deer darting in front of your car. In that case, your comprehensive coverage plan will probably place a cap on your recovery.
Sacramento County Car Accident Lawyers
Due to their injuries, many car accident victims cannot resume their jobs or studies. A negligent driver is still accountable even when a victim dies. The victim’s heirs may bring a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver who killed the victim (or legal heirs).
It hurts them to have to go through their sorrow and losses again. In depositions and trials, victims must speak in front of strangers about their losses. The length of time it takes for a case to be resolved—months or even years—significantly impacts someone’s mental health.
Holding a negligent driver accountable if they cause an accident is crucial. Accountability is essential when negligence results in an unnecessarily high death toll. For grieving families, wrongful death claims can be emotionally draining but can also bring about closure. This will benefit every California driver.
