A male died after a fatal car-pedestrian collision on Highway 273 Thursday morning, August 18, 2022.
The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. south on Highway 273, just north of Happy Valley Road.
According to the local authorities, the Ford sedan was traveling south when an unidentified male ran into the road.
The sedan’s driver could not avoid the pedestrian and struck them; as a result, the pedestrian passed away.
Officials won’t reveal the pedestrian’s identity until their family is informed.
Officers reported that two additional vehicles also struck the pedestrian after the Ford moved out of the way.
The Shasta County Coroner’s Office was given the decedent to look into the cause of death.
While they looked into the collisions, the CHP blocked off the number two lane.
