At least one person was killed and others were injured in a head-on collision in Bakersfield early Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 12:45 a.m. on Bear Mountain Boulevard, west of South Fairfax Road.
Authorities said two vehicles collided head-on, with both vehicles smoking at the scene. The Kern County Coronerโs Office was called at approximately 1:15 a.m.
Additional injuries were reported, though it is unclear how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
