Truck Accident Statistics

Even though new and faster ways to get around are developing every day, the trucking industry in the US is still growing. People think trucking is one of the best ways to move goods across the United States, and about 70% of all goods get where they need to go on some truck.

Large trucks are only involved in about 3% of accidents that cause injuries, but because they are so big and heavy, they often cause serious injuries when they are. An 18-wheeler can legally weigh up to 80,000 lbs.

There are a lot of different kinds of trucks on the road today, as you can see from a detailed page of truck accident statistics. Most of the differences between these are in how much and what kind of cargo they can carry. For example, some are designed to carry frozen goods, while others can take various, smaller loads for close-by transport.

This industry has gotten a bad name, especially in the last few decades. Accidents are bound to happen with so many careless drivers of such big trucks. By 2030, it is expected to be the fifth leading cause of death in the United States.

Still, many people all over the United States see this as their main way to make money, and it is a good way to make money. It’s a good idea to learn more about the most common causes of accidents, the numbers they lead to, and the best ways to fix them for a safer environment.
