[08-22-2023] Placer County, CA – 1 Person Dead After Two Vehicles Crash Involving Shootout Near Placer-Sacramento County Line

One person died after crashing near the Placer-Sacramento County line early Tuesday morning, August 22, 2023.

Authorities arrived at the crash scene along Walerga Road and PFE Road, with one of the vehicles pinned between a fire hydrant and an electrical post.

The Sacramento County Sheriff stated an altercation between the involved crash victims preceded the incident, leading to a shootout in Sacramento, and that the individuals knew each other.

It is unclear whether the shootout broke out while on the road or while they were in Sacramento. Investigators, however, state the incident is not a homicide due to one of the drivers dying directly from the car crash.
