[08-24-2023] San Luis Obispo County, CA – 61-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed Following Vehicle Collision in Pismo Beach

A 61-year-old pedestrian was killed after colliding with a vehicle in Pismo Beach on Thursday night, August 24, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred along Highway 101, north of Five Cities Drive, at around 10:15 p.m.

A 23-year-old woman from Carpinteria was traveling south on the highway when a 61-year-old man crossed eastbound, right into the path of her vehicle. Despite her best efforts to avoid that man, the woman hit him. CHP officers said it appeared that the man was trying to run to the center median.

Authorities stated that the man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman sustained major injuries. No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved.

The investigation into the collision continues.
