[08-31-2022] Woman Injured After Getting Struck by Partner on Oakdale RoadA woman was injured after a Modesto man deliberately ran over her with a car in a strip mall on Oakdale Road on Wednesday night, August 31, 2022.

Sharon Bear, a spokeswoman for the Modesto Police Department, said the crash occurred at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Glenwood Plaza, south of Floyd Avenue.

The police were called to report a pedestrian and vehicle collision.

The car and the pedestrian were gone by the time the police arrived.

The witnesses informed the police that a woman appeared to have been intentionally struck by a silver GMC SUV driver as she crossed the parking lot.

According to Bear, the driver then got out of the SUV, picked up the woman, put her in the front passenger seat, and started his car.

According to Bear, it is unknown what led up to the incident.

Officers tracked the car to the Monterey County region using the vehicle’s license plate information. The victim and suspect were found there by law enforcement.

According to Bear, the victim was transported to a trauma center, where her condition is stable, and she is anticipated to survive.

Leonard P., 57, the suspect, was returned to Stanislaus County and detained on suspicion of attempted murder and inflicting physical harm on a romantic partner.
