[09-01-2022] Riverside County, CA - Woman and Child Seriously Injured After a DUI Accident on Collett AvenueA 24-year-old Riverside woman and her 4-year-old relative were seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash caused by a DUI driver on Collett Avenue on Thursday, September 01, 2022.

The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Collett and Pierce Streets.

According to Riverside police Sgt. Ryan Taack, 35-year-old Nicole Shawn B. of Riverside was driving her Range Rover eastbound when she lost control while passing through the westbound lanes, striking a westbound 2007 Toyota Corolla.

A 35-year-old man accused of driving under the influence and causing a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured a Riverside woman and a child was being held on $50,000 bail today.

Paramedics from the Riverside Fire Department arrived quickly and discovered the occupants of the Toyota had sustained serious injuries.

According to Taack, the victims were taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition. Other occupants in both vehicles were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Baccarella was taken to jail after being treated for minor injuries. Taack claimed that tests revealed she was driving while intoxicated. She was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily harm and possession of drug paraphernalia on Thursday night.
