[09-10-2022] Fresno County, CA – Unidentified 30-Year-Old Pedestrian Man Struck and Killed in Shaw Avenue Crosswalk

An unidentified man was killed after he was hit by a vehicle crossing Shaw Avenue in Fresno early Saturday, September 10, 2022.

According to Fresno-area CHP spokesperson Mike Salas, the crash occurred at about 1:15 a.m., crossing Shaw at Maroa Avenue. He was hit by a Hyundai Sonata going east.

The California Highway Patrol said the man was 30 years old, but that was all they knew about him.

According to Salas, the man walked right into the path of the Hyundai and was hit right away.

He was severely hurt and taken to Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno, where he was later pronounced dead.

When she hit the person, the woman driving the Hyundai, who was not named, was in the first lane, closest to the middle of the road.

Salas said the woman was not hurt and willing to help with the investigation.

Salas said he doesn’t know yet if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident because he doesn’t know the results of a toxicology test on the man killed.

The crash is still under investigation.
