[09-10-2022] 17-Year-Old DUI Collision Killed One Person in LamontAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a DUI collision killed a 17-year-old teen in Lamont Saturday, September 10, 2022.

The crash occurred Saturday afternoon into a canal on Panama Road, east of Habecker Road in Lamont.

CHP says that the deputies went to the scene of a crash involving four teenagers in an off-road vehicle called a Polaris RZR.

When they got there, the county coroner’s office said they found Leslie O., who was 17 and from Lamont. Ochoa was taken to Kern Medical, but she died from her wounds.

Officers think that the 17-year-old boy driving the off-road vehicle was going too fast and crashed into a concrete ditch, an underground tunnel used to drain water or carry a stream.

The CHP says that the driver and two female passengers, ages 17 and 14, were seriously hurt. A 13-year-old girl, the third passenger, was hurt moderately.

All the people involved are from Lamont, and they all got care at the same hospital. The driver was put in jail.

Officers said that alcohol seems to have played a role in the accident, which is still being looked into.
