According to the authorities, one person is dead, and another two suffered significant injuries in a fatal DUI single-vehicle collision in Santa Clara Saturday, September 10, 2022.
According to the authorities, the crash occurred around 1:54 a.m. near Lawrence Expressway and Poinciana Drive.
The preliminary investigation showed that the car was going south on Lawrence when it got close to Poinciana. It drifted toward a traffic signal pole on the right.
The car hit the island in the middle of the road and then the pole. Police say that the driver, who was 36 years old, and a passenger, who was 35 years old, were seriously hurt. At the scene, a woman passenger who was 41 years old was said to have died.
Police say that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash. They have filed a criminal complaint with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office for DUI with injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while drunk.
