A boy was killed, and a woman was seriously injured following a car accident in San Jose on Friday, September 16, 2022.
The crash occurred at 8:03 a.m. at the intersection of Castlemont Avenue and Driftwood Drive.
The boy and the woman were crossing the street in a crosswalk at Castlemont Avenue and Driftwood Drive intersection.
Shortly after, the officers were called to a report of two pedestrians being struck at the intersection’s designated crosswalk.
The preliminary investigation showed that the pedestrians were struck by a woman driving a 2022 Mercedes Crossover as she made a left turn from Castlemont Avenue to travel east on Driftwood Drive.
According to police, the driver stayed at the scene and assisted with the investigation.
Police reported that the boy passed away from his injuries at the hospital while the woman, who broke her leg, is in stable condition.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will disclose the boy’s identity after informing the boy’s next of kin.
