[09-18-2022] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by a Suspected DUI Motorist on I-15

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car driven by a man accused of driving under the influence in the Interstate 15 lanes early Sunday morning, September 18, 2022.

According to CHP authorities, the fatal accident occurred at 4:10 a.m. near Miramar Road in the Scripps Ranch neighborhood.

According to CHP, the male pedestrian was walking in the I-15 lanes when a black Lexus automobile struck him.

The unidentified pedestrian was declared dead at the scene, and it is unknown why he was walking in the motorway lanes.

The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene following the accident. CHP investigators said he was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the CHP, “it is uncertain if the pedestrian was under the influence of narcotics and/or alcohol.”
