The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Calle Diamante in Indio.

The boy was reportedly attacked by a dog while visiting a family member on Calle Diamante.

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services was called to the scene.

The animal control claimed that the dog escaped from its pen before lunging at the boy.

Animal control reported that several family members had to physically remove the boy from the dog after the attack.

The 8-year-old boy is currently making a full recovery in the hospital.

The boy is thought to have sustained facial injuries.

The dog was turned over by its owner to animal control so it could be put down.
