[09-21-2022] A Man was Severely Wounded After a Pedestrian Accident Near Sherman HeightsA man was severely wounded after a car struck him near Sherman Heights on Wednesday morning, September 21, 2022.

The collision was reported shortly after 11:15 a.m. on State Route 94.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jesse Matias, the pedestrian, believed to be in his 30s, was struck by a 73-year-old woman driving a Ford Taurus just east of the 25th Street overpass.

Authorities attempted to identify the injured man because he was not carrying identification.

According to Matias, he had severe head injuries and was unaware when they took him to the hospital.

The driver, a Bonita resident, stopped after the collision and cooperated with authorities.

According to Matias, there was no indication that the crash was caused by drugs or alcohol. The cause of the collision was being looked into.

By 12:07 p.m., all lanes were reopened, the CHP said.
