Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics

California has some of the highest numbers of fatal pedestrian accidents nationwide. Most of these collisions are caused by driver negligence, such as texting or drunk driving.

According to the National Safety Council, more than 6,000 pedestrians died in car accidents in 2017.

Automobiles frequently collide with pedestrians. Distraction, intoxication, and inattentiveness are some of the most frequent causes.

Weather conditions have an impact on these accidents as well. It may be more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians when there is poor visibility due to fog, rain, or snow, especially at night.

In inclement weather, drivers should drive more cautiously, and pedestrians should always exercise caution when crossing the street. All drivers are required by law to take all reasonable precautions to avoid running over pedestrians. Accepting these precautions can reduce the number of pedestrians struck in multi-vehicle accidents.
