[09-25-2026] Shasta County, CA – One Killed, Two Injured in Head-On Crash in Anderson

One person was killed, and two others sustained injuries in a head-on collision in Anderson late Friday night, September 25, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 11:45 p.m. on Dersch Road west of Mossom Lane.

CHP said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a Nissan Xterra. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest on the north shoulder.

The Nissan caught fire following the collision. The driver, a 22-year-old Redding man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A 15-year-old Redding boy riding in the Nissan escaped before the vehicle caught fire. He suffered a broken wrist and clavicle.

CHP identified the Silverado driver as 23-year-old Onyz Y. of Redding. He suffered a broken leg and was arrested. Investigators said alcohol and drugs were believed to be factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
