According to the CHP, the two-vehicle collision transpired shortly after 11:00 a.m. just south of Arata Lane.

Officer David deRutte said that a woman from Geyersville was driving a Toyota Corolla that crashed into a Caltrans truck. The Caltrans truck protected a mower cutting grass in the center median near Arata.

The Caltrans truck, which had amber lights flashing, and the mower had moved into the first lane to get around the bridge railing at Arata when the Toyota hit the back of the Caltrans truck from behind, the CHP said.

The Toyota driver was poorly hurt and had to be taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The Caltrans truck driver complained of pain and was taken to the hospital.

After both northbound lanes were blocked and drivers slowed down to look at the accident scene, deRutte said, there were big traffic jams.

The Sonoma County Fire District said that cars were backed up on Los Amigos and Old Redwood Highway when the road was closed.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
