[09-30-2023] Ten-Year-Old Child Critically Injured Following Single-Crash in Belmont AvenueA minor pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2023.

According to the Fresno Police Department, they responded to a call at around 4:31 p.m. about an incident on Abby Street and Belmont Avenue.

Based on the initial investigation, the driver of the vehicle was traversing eastbound on Abby Street while on a green light when it hit a 10-year-old pedestrian.

The victim suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where the child was listed in critical condition.

The authorities stated the child was in a crosswalk near the median while collecting donations for the funeral of a grandmother who had recently passed away.

The driver and the two passengers pulled over, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with the police.

There is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident. Further details of the crash are unavailable at this time.
