[09-30-2023] Fresno County, CA – Ten-Year-Old Child Critically Injured Following Single-Crash in Belmont Avenue

A minor pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2023.

According to the Fresno Police Department, they responded to a call at around 4:31 p.m. about an incident on Abby Street and Belmont Avenue.

Based on the initial investigation, the driver of the vehicle was traversing eastbound on Abby Street while on a green light when it hit a 10-year-old pedestrian.

The victim suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where the child was listed in critical condition.

The authorities stated the child was in a crosswalk near the median while collecting donations for the funeral of a grandmother who had recently passed away.

The driver and the two passengers pulled over, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with the police.
