According to the police, a pedestrian sustained serious injuries after getting struck by an SUV in Napa on Wednesday night, October 5, 2022.
According to a news release from Napa police Sgt. Aaron Medina, the Toyota 4Runner driver, called 911 at 6:22 p.m. to report hitting a pedestrian on Foster Road near Hilton Avenue.
According to Medina, when patrol officers, Napa Fire, and American Medical Response arrived on the scene, they discovered a 22-year-old woman who was seriously hurt.
The pedestrian was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
According to police, the involved driver stayed at the scene, helped out, and cooperated with the authorities.
According to preliminary data, the pedestrian was crossing Foster Road from the north when the collision occurred, and the driver of a 2001 green Toyota 4Runner was driving south on Foster Road.
As the Napa Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Team responded, took over the investigation, and processed the scene on Wednesday night, Foster Road was closed for more than four hours.
Medina reported that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved at this point in the investigation.

Injuries and fatalities among pedestrians traveling on U.S. roads have risen in recent years. Pedestrians have traditionally been the most vulnerable group in vehicular collisions.
The Governor Highway Safety Administration (GHSA) data showed a 27% increase in deaths among young adults during that time, while overall traffic deaths decreased by 14% between 2007 and 2016.
There were 5,907 pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. in 2017. Recent statistics show that 88 people per minute perish.
There were 137,000 nonfatal pedestrian injuries that required emergency room visits in 2017.
Recent research has shown that California has the highest rate of serious injuries and fatalities among pedestrians.
In 2018, pedestrian accidents in California resulted in over 14,000 injuries and 893 fatalities.
