According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was killed after getting struck by a pickup truck in the westbound lanes of I-8 late Thursday night, October 6.
The troopers arrived at the scene of the crash around 11:20 p.m. west of Mission Center Road.
Investigators discovered the man was struck by a tan Nissan pickup truck.
The pedestrian, who was declared dead at the scene, was also struck by an unknown number of additional vehicles.
According to CHP, the truck’s 71-year-old San Diego resident driver remained on the scene after the collision.
For about five hours, troopers blocked off several lanes of I-8 while they investigated the scene.
The truck driver was unharmed in this collision, and authorities believe he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
According to CHP, it is unknown whether the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol or drugs as of Friday morning.
