According to police, two people were hospitalized after a two-car collision in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood on Friday, October 7, 2022.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision was initially reported just before 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Balboa Avenue and Kearny Villa Road.
According to police, a 51-year-old man was driving his Hyundai Elantra east on Balboa Avenue while a 23-year-old woman was driving a white Toyota Rav4 south on Kearny Villa Road.
The Hyundai was then struck by the female driver as she approached the intersection.
Both drivers were treated at a hospital. The male driver had serious but non-life-threatening wounds, while the female reported having wrist pain. The two drivers have not yet been identified.
The driver of the Toyota was detained on suspicion of DUI after an investigation revealed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. The woman was placed under arrest.
There was no information on the condition of the Hyundai driver.
