[10-07-2022] Unidentified Pedestrian Man Struck by Vehicle on SR-164 near HillcrestAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian man suffered major injuries after getting struck by a vehicle while walking along State Route 163 near Hillcrest Friday afternoon, October 7, 2022.

According to CHP Officer Jesse Matias, the collision occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. the pedestrian was walking in the southbound lanes of the SR-163 freeway from the University Avenue on-ramp near Hillcrest.

The reports from the California Highway Patrol indicate that a silver Toyota sedan was the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.

According to Matias, he was taken to a hospital to treat his injuries, which were described as “major” but were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old man, remained at the scene of the accident. He did not sustain any injuries.

According to Matias’s statement in the press release, neither alcohol nor drugs were considered factors in the collision.

The California Highway Patrol is looking into what happened.
