[10-14-2022] 55-Year-Old Truck Driver Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Lone PineA 55-year-old truck driver from Stockton was fatally injured in a pedestrian crash in Lone Pine on Friday, October 14, 2022.

The collision occurred around 7:14 p.m. on the southbound shoulder of US-395 near Lee’s Frontier Gas Station.

The 55-year-old driver had parked his semi-truck near Lee’s Frontier Gas Station.

The truck driver got out and started walking east across US-395 toward a food truck that was parked in a dirt lot across from the highway.

A 72-year-old driver from Cambria was speeding north on US-395 in a BMW X5 as the truck driver crossed the northbound lanes.

The pedestrian who was crossing the highway was not seen by the BMW’s driver.

The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian due to his excessive speed. The pedestrian was struck by the BMW while it was in the second lane going north. The pedestrian collapsed on the US-395 shoulder in the northbound direction.

The BMW was severely damaged and came to rest just to the north of the collision.

Caltrans, the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department, the Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Department, and the CHP all sent personnel to the crash site.

The pedestrian died at the scene after succumbing to his injuries. The BMW’s driver did not sustain any injuries.

The Inyo County Coroner’s Office will reveal the pedestrian’s identity once the next of kin has been informed.
