[10-14-2023] Unidentified Pedestrian Died Following Vehicle Collision Near Old TownAn unidentified pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in San Diego on Saturday night, October 14, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred before 8:30 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 5 near Old Town.

The pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking on the freeway in the No. 1 lane between the Old Town Avenue exit and the Moore Street on-ramp. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, with identity still undisclosed.

There is no information about whether the vehicle remained at the scene or fled. Two right lanes were blocked, causing traffic to slow through the area, but all lanes were reopened by 10:30 p.m.

Information regarding the victim and the cause of the collision will be released as the investigation progresses.
