[10-15-2022] Fresno County, CA – 31-Year-Old Clovis Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 in Fresno

According to the authorities, a multi-vehicle crash killed one person and closed roads, and caused traffic backups in Fresno on Saturday morning, October 15, 2022.

According to the authorities, the crash transpired at about 8:15 a.m. on Highway 99 near Ashlan Avenue.

Felipe G., 31, allegedly hit a Caltrans sweeper crew, setting off a chain reaction that involved a semi-truck and an empty school bus.

Garay, a local of Clovis, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center after severe injuries in the collision. A few hours later, he succumbed to his wounds.

Officials say Garay’s Honda Civic crashed into a Caltrans safety truck equipped with an enormous crash bumper as the crew inside a sweeper truck cleaned the center median on the southbound side of highway 99 near Ashlan Avenue.

The Honda Civic swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor-trailer and an empty school bus.

The California Highway Patrol has not finished its probe into the collision. They say they don’t know if drugs or alcohol played a role in Garay’s blind spot and prevented him from seeing the Caltrans truck.
