According to the Fresno Police Department, a pedestrian woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Fresno early Saturday morning, October 15, 2022.
Per Fresno Police Lt. Mike Gebhart, the pedestrian crash transpired at 12:42 a.m. at Belmont and Echo avenues.
Officers found a woman in her 50s lying on the side of the road when they arrived on the scene.
It was determined that the woman had passed away at the scene.
Gebhart stated that the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, but he added that it is possible that another vehicle struck the woman and then fled the scene.
He stated that there is evidence that points in that direction. Officers searched for surveillance video, so they did not describe the vehicle.
The investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash.
