[10-17-2023] Napa County, CA – Two Bicyclists Killed After Being Hit by Lumber Truck in Silverado Trail

Two bicyclists died after being hit by a lumber truck in Napa County on Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023.

According to California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:00 a.m. in the northbound bike lane of the Silverado Trail north of Oak Knoll Avenue.

A man riding a Trek bicycle and a woman riding a Specialized bicycle were traveling in the northbound lane when the lumber cargo of a 2018 Freightliner hit the cyclists.

The male cyclist, estimated to be 50 years old, died at the scene, while the female cyclist, believed to be 45 years old, was transported to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center by an American Medical Response ambulance but later succumbed to her injuries.

The identities of the cyclists were not disclosed until relatives were notified.  The 55-year-old driver named Porfirio S. stopped his three-axle truck and remained at the scene. He was reportedly not injured during the collision.
