According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Taka Hiura, a black Mini Cooper was reportedly approaching a stop sign at Highway 41 while driving east on Road 208.

According to him, it’s unclear whether the Mini Cooper failed to stop or veered away from the stop sign into the path of a gold Toyota Tacoma that was driving between 55 and 65 mph south on Highway 41 when the accident occurred.

According to Hiura, the Toyota Tacoma driver could not avoid hitting the Mini Cooper on the driver’s side and T-boned it.

Major injuries were sustained by a man who was also riding in the Mini Cooper and was flown to a nearby hospital.

Additionally, the broadside collision claimed the life of a small dog. It was not immediately known who the woman was or her age.

According to Hiura, two men in the Toyota Tacoma were transported to a hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

Hiura further reported that alcohol and drug use don’t seem to have contributed to the collision.

He claimed that all of the passengers were wearing a seat belt. Highway 41’s north and southbound lanes were closed to traffic so the helicopter could land.

For 1 1/2 hours, the intersection was closed. According to Hiura, some witnesses provided details about the collision.
