[10-22-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Two Killed, One Hospitalized In Wrong-Way Crash in Los Altos

Two drivers were killed, and a third person was hospitalized in a wrong-way five-vehicle collision in Los Altos, Santa Clara County, on Thursday evening, October 22, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on southbound Interstate 280 near Foothill Expressway.

CHP said a driver traveling in the northbound lanes crossed into the southbound lanes and struck four other vehicles.

Two drivers died in the collision. A third person was transported to a hospital, but their condition was not provided.

Investigators have not determined why the driver crossed into opposing traffic. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
