Truck Accident Statistics
Large trucks play a vital role in the transportation of goods, but their size and weight make crashes involving them far more severe than those with smaller vehicles. In 2023, an estimated 5,375 fatal crashes involving large trucks occurred across the United States, reflecting an 8.4% decrease from 2022.
Although this decline suggests some recent progress, fatal truck crashes have increased by 43% over the past decade. These numbers indicate that, despite short-term improvements, large truck collisions remain a significant safety concern on U.S. roads.
