[10-28-2023] Male Pedestrian Died Following Vehicle Collision Near Highway 101A man died after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Barbara on Saturday night, October 28, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. at Castillo Street, off-ramp of southbound Highway 101.

The pedestrian was struck by a 2015 Honda Accord while standing in the middle of the offramp. The injured victim was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he later died.

Three occupants of the Accord, including the driver, identified as 56 years old, reported no visible injuries. As investigations continued, alcohol and drugs were not suspected as contributing factors.

The off-ramp was closed for approximately two hours. The identity of the victim and further details of the crash are unknown.
