According to the California Highway Patrol, a 14-year-old boy from Menifee suffered severe injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road outside Liberty High School in Menifee Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, the collision transpired at about 3:50 p.m. on Wickerd Road near the back entrance of the school.
According to Lassig, a 31-year-old Menifee woman was driving an eastbound black Toyota Highlander when a young boy began running across the street in front of oncoming traffic.
The driver swerved to the right to avoid hitting the Boy, but the car’s front left struck the child, sending him sprawling across the westbound lanes.
The victim received aid from the responding officers and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
The consequences of the crash’s genesis are still being examined.
