The Oxnard City Fire Department reported a single fatality of a motorcyclist following a hit-and-run collision in Oxnard on Sunday evening, November 6, 2022.
According to the authorities, the fire crews were dispatched to the crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at 10:13 p.m. on the 101 Freeway at Rice Avenue.
After arriving at the scene, the responders discovered a rider ejected from the motorcycle after getting rear-ended by a coupe.
Medical personnel declared the rider dead at the site. His identity was not revealed by the officials.
The couple’s driver took off, leading to an extensive search. It remains unknown whether the driver was found.
While investigators conduct their investigation, the 101 Freeway’s southbound lanes between Rose and Rice Avenues will remain closed throughout the morning rush hour.
The California Highway Patrol Ventura is in charge of the investigation.
