Reckless Driving Accident Statistics
Reckless driving is a significant factor in traffic accidents, road rage, and numerous fatal highway accidents yearly in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defines aggressive driving as when a driver repeatedly violates traffic laws while driving to endanger other people or property.
Aggressive driving is challenging to measure, but according to a 2009 study by the American Automobile Association, between 2003 and 2007, it was a factor in 56% of fatal accidents. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatal Accident Reporting System, excessive speed is the most frequent factor.
In California, reckless driving is considered a serious traffic violation or an extreme driving crime. Driving and the words “reckless,” “careless,” and “improper” driving are frequently used interchangeably. Whatever you want to call them, it significantly increases the likelihood of fatal car accidents.
Others’ lives are needlessly put in danger by aggressive or reckless drivers. When negligent driving causes injury to third parties, it is unacceptable. Those responsible for the damage and fatalities caused by these drivers should be held accountable.
Reliable Lawyers for Reckless Driving Accidents in San Bernardino
The vast majority of instances of auto accidents involve legal negligence. To establish that the other driver was at fault in a reckless driving accident, your California accident attorney will try to develop intentional behavior or “negligence per se.” Due to its voluntary nature, deliberate behavior, such as drunk driving, entails a higher risk of inevitable consequences.
An injured pedestrian, passenger, or other road users may be able to establish negligence per se liability. Reckless driving is against the California Vehicle Code, and negligence per se involves breaking the law. In either scenario, a strong claim requires the education and experience of a determined California reckless driving accident lawyer.
