The California Highway Patrol and California Department of Transportation reported a multi-vehicle collision near the Gaviota Tunnel on Monday morning, November 7, 2022.
According to the report, Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the collision that occurred at 6:45 a.m. on Highway 101.
The officers said a dump truck had toppled in the second lane of southbound Highway 101 in Gaviota. The CHP stated that the collision involved multiple vehicles.
There were no reports on how many vehicles were involved and if there were injuries or fatalities.
The area has substantial traffic delays since the number two lanes are closed after the collision.
Captain Safechuck advised drivers to slow down and widen their following distance because there was light rain in the area.
An investigation by the authorities into the crash continues.
