Truck Accident Statistics

Large trucks are essential for moving goods across the country, but their size and weight often make crashes involving them more dangerous than those with smaller vehicles. In 2023, the United States recorded 5,375 fatal crashes involving large trucks, which represents an 8.4-percent decrease from 2022.

Even with this short-term decline, fatal truck crashes have risen 43 percent over the past ten years. This long-term increase shows that crashes involving large trucks continue to be a significant safety concern.
